BIBLICAL JOURNEY TO THE HOLY LAND

27 NOVEMBER TO 7 DECEMBER 2014

Dear Pilgrims to the Holy Land,

Greetings of peace and joy to you in our Lord Jesus Christ!

It has been exactly two weeks now since our return from the sacred pilgrimage that we have recently made together to the Holy Land where our Lord was born, lived, ministered, died, resurrected and ascended to the right hand of the Father. I am sure two weeks is too short a time for you to have forgotten just how significant and spiritually deep an experience it was that you had acquired throughout your journey there.

It was, in a way, a very special trip for me as well despite having been to the Holy Land a number of times with pilgrims. It was special because I had never encountered a group of pilgrims so prayerful and so reverent when approaching spiritual realities. This experience has been such a great source of joy for me in a way that I cannot adequately describe. I am both happy for you as well as uplifted in my own faith because of your witness during the trip.

I also cannot forget the way many of you were helping one another to make it through successfully as we walked -- and sometimes scaled slopes -- to the various sacred shrines. Because of you, our journey was coloured by a spirit of self-giving love and community, this being very characteristic of the Holy Spirit Himself.

For all this, I must congratulate you. I am sure this is a trip never to be forgotten by you. Please be assured that Fr John Yoew and I are praying for you daily, and we ask you also to keep us in your constant prayers. By God's grace, we may be able to embark on another pilgrimage together in time to come.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all!
