Social Communications
"Among the wonderful technological discoveries which men of talent, especially in the present era, have made with God's help, the Church welcomes and promotes with special interest those which have a most direct relation to men's minds and which have uncovered new avenues of communicating most readily news, views and teachings of every sort. The most important of these inventions are those media which, such as the press, movies, radio, television and the like, can, of their very nature, reach and influence, not only individuals, but the very masses and the whole of human society, and thus can rightly be called the media of social communication. The Church recognises that these media, if properly utilised, can be of great service to mankind, since they greatly contribute to men's entertainment and instruction as well as to the spread and support of the Kingdom of God." - Inter Mirifica (Decree on the Media of Social Communications), 1963

The Splendour Project seeks to respond to the Decree of the Second Vatican Council in the employment of social communications as a means to draw people into that which is true, good and beautiful. To that end, we collaborate with media specialists to transmit the Gospel in the language familiar to the modern man.

social media
Social media is a staple way of communication for many urban people today. Even those who seldom communicate with others socially become more visible and expressive on social media platforms. The Splendour Project reaches out to cyber communities through various social media platforms.
Each day, a brief Gospel reflection is being sent out to various recipients by WhatsApp, who then in turn spread these reflections to other friends on their WhatsApp lists. In an instance, thousands of people from around the world are receiving these daily Gospel reflections from the daily lectionary. |
The Splendour Project also has its very own Facebook Page which people can "like" and be updated on various links to catechetical resources, be updated on our faith formation events and notified on the many ongoings pertaining to our efforts. |

Even a quick reading of his (Deacon Sherman's) reflections provoked deep thoughts and brought forth flashes of wisdom. More important is that, from time to time, springs of prayer welled up in my heart.

exploring OTHER media
The Splendour Project also recognises that media need not necessarily be something of electronic format. Ancient forms of media such as icons, rosaries, prayer ropes, and the like, continue to be central to the Catholic faith and can be of great catechetical value. During our travels, we often collect such unique items from around the world to be made available to people at our events. And now, it's also available to you here. You can browse through our catalogue, select what you like and order them from us.
