SELP

Splendour English Language Programme (ELP)

the basics

WHAT?

We are a community-based language development programme run in Penang island
WHY?

Because we care for the education of young people
HOW?

By providing personal classes on English proficiency by highly qualified professionals

the objective

The Splendour English Language Programme (ELP) is a community outreach programme of the Splendour Project which was pioneered by Grace Hew who now serves as its Executive Instructor.

This ELP aims to help children of immigrant families to assimilate themselves into the international education system through the learning of English by way of personal tutoring. And because this is an outreach programme, the fees charged on these tutoring sessions are below market rate.
Grace, holding a masters degree in Linguistics and English Language Studies (USM, Malaysia), is a specialist in this field of education. She is reputed and able to run this programme on the island of Penang, where our Splendour community home is located.

Our perfection does not consist of doing extraordinary things but in doing the ordinary well.

the specifics

DEVELOPING SELF CONFIDENCE
Learning the language and having the confidence to use it are two different matters. We focus on both aspects in order to enable your child to confidently communicate in the English language.
Children learn effectively through different teaching styles. We customise our teaching styles to suit your child in order to enable optimum learning. The attention given to your child is very personal.
CUSTOMISED TEACHING STYLES
SUPERIOR TEACHING MATERIALS
The teaching materials used are a result of years of thorough research and careful selection in order to ensure that local and international requirements are met. Students' examination needs are also carefully considered in the development of these teaching materials.
The instructor holds a Degree of Bachelor of Languages and Linguistics (Major in English) from Universiti Malaya and a Master of Arts (Linguistics & English Language Studies) from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Not only is she highly trained in her field of specialty, but based on feedback from current and past students, she is also known to be a compassionate, dedicated and patient teacher who is able to understand the challenges and struggle of different learners, and adapt her teaching to them accordingly.
HIGHLY QUALIFIED & EXPERIENCED INSTRUCTOR
SUCCESSFUL TRACK RECORD
The Splendour English Language Programme has successfully coached students from the Middle East, China, Japan, Korea and Malaysia to converse comprehensively and to use the language in their higher studies. These students, upon several years of undergoing this programme, have also demonstrated an ability to apply the language in other areas of their lives such as in using social media and others.
