CORNELIUS CARDINAL Sim

His Eminence, Cornelius Cardinal Sim, was the first Vicar Apostolic of Brunei Darussalam. On 29 May 2021, His Eminence passed away while undergoing treatment for cancer. This happened just six months after he was elevated by the Holy Father, Pope Francis, to the College of Cardinals. Our community affectionately knew him simply as "Bishop", and upon his elevation, "Cardi".

​We deeply miss him, but also entrust ourselves with hope to his intercessions for us as we too continually pray for him. He has made a profound impact on our lives and the lives of many others through his fatherly gentleness and love. Our community has lost the gift of his visible presence with us, but we know we have not lost our eternal friendship and communion with him.
